‘Let nature be your guiding principle’

Jane Goodall

Residential Projects

Private gardens to suit all budgets and locations from an Oxford townhouse, or courtyard to Oxfordshire country gardens. Your garden needs to work for your lifestyle and add a new dimension to your everyday living. With years of design experience each project is as unique as you are and understanding your wishes and dreams is key to creating a garden that you can love and use over many years to come. You don’t need to become a horticulturalist or spend hours gardening you just need a design that functions as well as it is beautiful, a place of sanctuary, relaxation and connection with nature. A well designed garden adds personal and financial value and will make you want to be outside everyday whether enjoying birdsong and a morning coffee or unwinding at the end of the day.

Public Projects

We bring nature and beauty to wider audiences by transforming unloved spaces in both urban and rural locations.  These ‘gardenscapes’ are ecological and community lifelines bringing natural elements into the hardscape and many different habitats for insects, mammals, invertebrates and birds and of course people. Play and immersive planting are key elements of our public realm projects so that people can really connect with the landscape. Our feedback is that the experiences build positive change in terms of wellbeing and engagement. Thoughtfully designed places in the public realm bring real value to communities and individuals.

Laura did an amazing job of improving our garden and we could not be happier with the end result. We are so glad that we decided to invest in the services of a professional designer, as Laura came up with ideas we would never have thought of ourselves. She transformed our garden from an under-used space we used to walk straight through to a lush and beautiful garden enjoyed by the whole family every day. Laura worked with us to fulfil our brief and make the most of our existing garden’s attributes. Her design was creative and practical. I would not hesitate to recommend her services.

Our process

Gardens are for people and nature and our role as the designer and facilitator is to open up the conversation and design with both in mind. Each project is tailored. We listen to you, observe and delve into the landscape to understand its challenges and your specific needs and wishes. This information in conjunction with the site analysis and survey formulates the brief. The next step is to develop a concept plan and visualisation of the ‘imagined’ garden. The image below was our visual for the Early Years playground garden at St Francis School, Oxford. We modelled the concept plan in Sketch Up and then rendered it in photoshop so that the client could immediately grasp what the finished garden would look like. To do this we worked from a survey to make an accurate plan to scale. Great gardens take great planning and they don’t just look beautiful but improve lives at an everyday level.
